produce

isn’t that what it means to be human?

working until we come to the end of ourselves

trying to show something for our efforts

but what if there was a limitless pool

a fount so deep we could swim down

            and never discover it fully

its water yields thirty, sixty, a hundredfold

when it is poured out on seed

Even if we,

            In a futile effort,

threw that seed down

with no energy to grow it ourselves

yet we desired the seed to grow

i guess that’s why we threw it

it could be a seed of love

            or joy

            or peace

patience is what I need grown

maybe you need kindness, goodness

            or faithfulness

            or gentleness

Maybe more self-control is needed today?

is this what it means to be human?

to lay seed

and trust it will be watered

by a greater source

in order that we bear fruit

for a prosperous life

not one of material wealth

but one made of treasures of a

            greater kingdom

to feed a broken world

and work to sow healing
